Ghost Pepper Intergalactic Releases Momentum, an epic instrumental acoustic-electric journey.

Gulf Shores, AL –– On November 1st, 2023, Ghost Pepper Intergalactic will release the new single, Momentum. This dynamic and inspiring track is already accumulating praise from labels, influencers, and publishers alike. By blending acoustic and electronic sounds with cinematic embellishments and a hefty portion of spirit, GPI has achieved something that is both completely original and truly special.

Momentum is primarily driven by kick- and toms-heavy four-on-the-floor drums. There are subtle layers of instrumentation here, including djembe, 2 pianos, several synthesizers and a soulful cello that adds just the right amount of tenderness. With the addition of inventive production techniques, Momentum succeeds in creating an emotional experience that will hold your attention to the final contemplative conversation between cello and piano.

Due to its originality, it is difficult to compare this track to the works of other artists, though there are elements of influences ranging from Dvorak to Deadmau5. 

“I could say this about every track I’ve made, but this one is really special to me. I heard the opening synth melody one night. I got that down and then started hearing more. It just kept building.” Carl Stevens, the creative force behind GPI, goes on to say, “The point of this song is about my life, really. It’s about building - and sometimes losing and regaining - momentum toward who and what I want to be.” 

While GPI is responsible for the writing and most of the instrumentation, several instruments were played by professional session musicians: drums, djembe, shakers, saxophone, and one of the 2 pianos. Bringing all this together in an arrangement that communicates its honest and inspiring message is a noteworthy achievement. 

Momentum cohesively combines a variety of styles and influences. The highly skilled session players are regulars in GPI’s music: Adam Alesi on drums, Felipe Ribeiro on keys, João Paulo Drumond on percussion, and Samuel da Silva on sax. Writing, arranging, editing, and rough mixing were handled by Carl, and Latin Grammy winners Henrique Vilhena and Luiz Tornaghi completed the final mixing and mastering, respectively. GPI has several other works that will be released in 2023-24, including lyrical tracks.
